Between the Gurnigel region and the Simmental rises the imposing Gantrisch chain, which includes the striking rocky peak of the Stockhorn. The classic Gurnigel-Stockhorn high-altitude trail leads along this chain. The views of the Bernese Alps, Lake Thun and the Simmental are unique and breathtaking. The reward is the magnificent panoramic view from the 2190 m high Stockhorn.

The trail leads first on an asphalt road and then on a gravelled alpine road to Alp Obernünene. Then the ascent to the Leitere Pass at 1904 m begins. Once you reach the top of the pass, you are rewarded with a fantastic view. Now the actual high-altitude trail begins under the gigantic Gantrisch chain. Passing Chuelouenen and Stierehütte, you reach Oberi Walalp. On the organic Demeter alp with dairy cows, cattle, alpine pigs and chickens you can buy a fine piece of Bernese alp cheese AOP.

From Oberi Walap, the route now leads to the last steep ascent along the north face passage to the ridge and finally to the Stockhorn. A grandiose panorama invites you to enjoy it.
