Between the Gurnigel area and the Simmental rises the imposing Gantrisch chain, which also includes the striking rocky peak of the Stockhorn. Along this chain leads the high-altitude classic trail Gurnigel-Stockhorn. The views of the Bernese Alps, Lake Thun and the Simmental are unique and breathtaking. The reward is the magnificent panoramic view from the 2190 m high Stockhorn.

The path leads first on an asphalted and then on a gravelled alpine road to the alp Obernünene. Then the ascent to the Leitere pass at 1904 m begins. Once on top of the pass, you will be rewarded with a great view. Now the real high-altitude trail begins under the gigantic Gantrisch chain. Passing Chuelouenen and Stierehütte, you reach Oberi Walalp. On the organic Demeter alp with dairy cows, cattle, alpine pigs and chickens you can buy a fine piece of Bernese alp cheese AOP.

From Oberi Walalp the route now leads to the last steep ascent along the north face passage to the ridge and finally to the Stockhorn. A magnificent panorama invites you to enjoy.
